
I really enjoyed the certification course and learned things that I could put into practice right away. For example, I have a client who wanted her website to address three different audiences. She was trying to lump them all into the same copy throughout the site, which didn't work because they all have different needs.
Coincidentally, I had taken Olivier Chaine's lesson the night before the client called, and used what I learned there to suggest she go with a very general overview of her services and then provide links for each group. Being able to offer techniques that are proven by experts to be effective is invaluable.

The presenters overall were very strong, I particularly found the email marketing and demand generation far more informative and fascinating than I expected, plus those "spoke" to me as a marketing practitioner. Looking forward to continuing on with the program. If there's a "badge"/widget you want me to put on my website or Facebook page, happy to do this as I obviously know a ton of marketers who need this kind of education.

The essentials course was well prepared and the presenters were true gurus in their field. I have been in some aspect of online marketing for 12 years and learned many essential concepts. Some were concepts I thought about before but had not solidified them. Some were new for me. It is important to have an industry "level set" of essential concepts for online marketing as you have put together with OMI.
So many of us in this industry have learned by just doing. Formalizing this with real world experts' experiences and strategies is a fantastic way to solidify what you know and don't know (and what you don't know you do or don't know!). I am very pleased to see that the test did not require answering tricky questions based on memorizing items that one can easily reference. You did it right by asking most questions that were about the understanding of each topic with a few memorized data points that were important to remember.

The course was excellent. Test was intuitive and got to the practical points, which is ideal. I found the practical applications throughout the course to be most helpful - not a bunch of theory but information I can use to manage up, across and around. Information to improve results. Now, if only my nonprofit had the staff capacity to support it. LOL. We'll get there. It was worth the investment!
I highly recommend to others who have a general knowledge of online marketing but have no idea where to start in order to get the basics set up for successful future of online marketing. The breadth of things to do can be overwhelming but this gave first steps for each area from analytics and Web design to e-mail and search optimization. I've already used information from the Summit in SF to educate about basics and why we need to get that in place.
