Why should I get certified? What are the benefits?

A marketing certificate offers a variety of benefits. In addition to receiving a strong theoretical and practical education, you will also receive a credential that will help advance your marketing career. How is it delivered to me: on-demand online vs. in person?

Students have the option to attend live workshops, study online or a combination of the two. Live courses are available through nationwide Online Marketing Summit events, education-based conferences. On-demand online course are accessible through any web browser, 24/7 so that students can learn at their own pace.

 

Do I get to interact with other students and instructors?

Through our exclusive LinkedIn Group, students can connect to peers, instructors and OMI graduates, allowing new students to increase their professional network as well as receive updates and insight on marketing research and new electives.

 

What courses are required to obtain certification?

Currently there are two levels of certification programs. Both require seven core courses and three electives. Students can choose electives pertaining to their interests and future goals. For Level 1: Essentials of Online Marketing, core courses include:

  • Online Marketing Strategy and Planning
  • Website Strategy and Design
  • Search Marketing
  • Email Marketing
  • Analytics and Measurement
  • Social Media
  • Demand Generation

Level 2: Integration and Execution programs include a variety of courses relating to the discipline of choice. Electives focus on how to integrate the chosen discipline with other online marketing fields.

 

Can I customize my curriculum to meet my professional needs?

Students have the opportunity to customize their certification programs by choosing electives to suit their interests and needs. Core courses are required for certification and cannot be changed. Once Level 1 is completed, students can delve deeper in their chosen discipline by progressing to Level 2.

 

What are the electives?

Level 1 electives are specific lessons that delve deeper into one of the subjects. For instance, under Email, you’ll find an elective called “Email Deliverability,” which teaches how to increase ROI by assuring that your emails are delivered correctly. Each of the core subjects has a wide variety of electives from which students can choose.

Level 2 electives focus on integration. For example, Level 2: Email: Integration and Execution course, the core learning focuses on executing specific email programs. The electives concentrate on integrating other online marketing efforts such as social media, demand generation and web analytics into your email program.

 

How long can I continue to access the course content?

Students can continue to access Program curriculum content up to six months after enrolling.

 

Can I send my employees to get certified?

Yes. Companies and employees interested in obtaining an online marketing certification are welcomed.  The Institute offers group discounts as well as special enterprise-level training options for very large groups.

 

Are group discounts available?

Yes, group rates are as follows:

  • 3-5 students: 20% Discount
  • 6-10 students: 25% Discount
  • 10 or more students: 30% Discount

Which program is appropriate for my skill level?

Level 1 is meant for beginners in online marketing or marketing professionals who seek to expand their knowledge of the online space. Level 2 is more advanced and for people who already have an understanding of online marketing or have been Level 1 certified and wish to learn more about one discipline.

 

How many credits are needed for certification?

Both Level 1 and Level 2 Certification Programs require ten course credits comprised of seven required core courses and three elective courses.

 

How much time does it take to obtain certification?

  • The Level 1 program requires 12-15 hours of class time
  • Level 2 programs require 16-20 hours of class time

 

How much time do I have to complete a certification program?

Students have three months from the time of enrollment to complete a Program.

 

Do I have to take a test?

Yes. Students must pass a final exam in order to receive certification. The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions that relate directly to the courses. If necessary, the exam may be retaken.

 

What do I get when I’m done?

Graduates receive a certificate of completion as well as an electronic badge to post on their website, blog or online resume.

 

How long is my certification good for?

Certification is good for one year after completion of a Program.

 

How can I move up to the next level of certification?

All you have to do is enroll. Discounts on Level 2 Programs are available for level 1 graduates.
